Location

Halepa is a beautiful, quiet and historical area of Chania Town. During the Cretan Democracy, this suburb was the home of many wealthy merchants and politicians, so it became the center of the diplomatic activities in Crete.

The Greek Embassy, the old French Academy, the “Palace” of Prince George and his private picturesque Russian-style Saint Magdaline church, the house of Venizelos (one of the most successful statesmen in Greek modern history), are a few of the historic buildings located in this area. Many important decisions and events marked this area of Chania.

The New Archeological Museum of Chania just across the street.

Unique Excursions
Therisos Gorge
A unique route to the historic gorge of Therisos. A miracle of nature that is run across by a road, which allows you to explore the beautiful scenery. The drive lasts approximately 35 minutes and leads up to the historical village of Therisso, where the homonymous revolution began in 1905. A small museum has been erected to remind to everyone of those times. You will have the chance to taste some of the local cuisine by local producers in the tavernas which usually offer live music during the weekend. If you decide not to dine in Therissos, the next village, Zourva has one of the best taverns in Crete (Emilia).
Manousakis Winery
Going down to the village of Fournes, it is worth stopping in a small picturesque village of Vatolakos. In Vatolakos, Mr. Manousakis with his family, created an amazing winery, already awarded for the quality of the wines he produces (Manousakis Winery). Here you can try and tour the vast world of Wine.
Agia Lake
After this "intoxicating" stop, you can enjoy your coffee in the next village - Agia, where the homonym lake is located which feeds the city with the precious and excellent quality water.
